    As a result of the 1990 publication of the American with Disabilities Act in the United States, the European Manual for an accessible built environment in the European Union and the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) 1995 a noteworthy amount of effort has been invested in making the environment accessible to people with disabilities.

    The evolution of assistive technologies for the blind people that started at the end of the last century (the Braille language, 1827) opened the doors to exciting new prospects for the present day. There are now an array of devices that can alleviate the difficulties in orientation and mobility caused by visual impairment

    STEP-HEAR Ltd. maintains close relationships with international opinion leaders and experts in the field and stays updated with the development of new technologies as well as with the visually impaired who commit to accessibility by using and helping to develop the new solutions.

    STEP-HEAR was founded by Marcel Grossman and Moshe Kilim. Marcel Grossman is Chairman of Geemarc Telecom S.A. a leader in assistive technologies for the hearing impaired and Moshe Kilim is Chairman of Mehalev Ltd, the leading distributor of Assistive Listening Devices in Israel.

    Geemarc was founded in 1974 in the UK and was amongst the pioneers of cordless telephones in the UK. In 2001 the company identified the special needs market, a market that targets the hearing impaired phone users. From one product in the year 2001, today the range of Geemarc Clearsound Special Needs products includes over 25 products. New products are being developed in collaborations with the leading forces in the Special Needs market. Geemarc’s products are recognized as market leaders, recommended by Audiologists and used by hearing impaired persons around the world.
